The rocks are not bigger or sharper than those other trails in the area, but they are more relentless than usual. Combined with the switchbacks and the way the climb never really lets up, this kicks the difficulty up a notch.

The view at the top is a nice place to scope out almost the entire Robles Junction area and see where the rest of your hike goes.

Navigation is pretty clear, but as you descend eastward from the top, there's a point where you might be tempted to follow a wash instead of the trail.
