Description
Eagle Point provides a reservable shuttle that will pick users up from HWY 153, just past the Three Creek Reservoir. To learn more or to set up a shuttle call: 435-438-3612. Alternatively you can leave a leave a car at the Three Creek Reservoir turnout.
Tushar Ridge begins off of the Puffer Lake Trail and heads into rolling terrain through a thick forest. This section is a Forest Service, non-motorized trail, so the trees have been cut tightly around the trail corridor to discourage ATVs. Watch out for brush and creeping juniper which can cause some itchy shins. The trail continues to wind through the trees until it reaches HWY 153.
Cross over and head into the Eagle Point Resort property. This portion of the trail follows a ski run (there may be maintenance vehicles during the summer). There's a good climb to the top of the Surface Lift. At the lift, the trail switches to singletrack as it alternates between trees and ski runs. Make sure to keep close to the tree line on your left as the trail follows the ridge past after the last run.
Back in the trees, you'll enjoy more singletrack. There is one marked branch-off trail, and hikers should keep to the right at this split. Shortly thereafter, Tushar Ridge trail turns north to run through a small meadow. On the other side, it returns to the trees as the fun descent continues. At the bottom, cross the bridge over the creek and follow the trail toward HWY 153.
Here you can pick up your car, enjoy a reservable shuttle (if you arranged it in advance from Eagle Point), hike this as an out-and-back, or you'll need to climb up HWY 153 back to the parking area a few miles above.
