Description

This is a pretty straightforward trail through old-growth forest, as the signage is very clear in Fort Hill where the beginning and end points are. However, it is worth pointing out that this trail begins and ends with fording a stream. Unless it has been VERY dry or the creek is frozen, you cannot make both fords without getting your feet wet.

It is very clear with current blazing and signage that this is not part of the Buckeye Trail, however it is also very clear that it recently was. When we hikeed it (Summer '17), it was still very well blazed by both Buckeye Trail blue blazes and Ohio Historical Society metal tags.

The trail is well maintained with switchbacks on the downhills and water channels to move water off the trail. While it is the least used trail in the park, it is ABSOLUTELY worth the effort to enjoy it. Expect alternating climbs and descents with reasonable flats in between while heading through old-growth forest and looking down hundreds of feet to the creek below.

At times, it felt like we were hiking through a rainforest where the paw-paws were thick due to an opening in the canopy. At other times, you can expect mature forest with sight lines of
