Description

This is primarily a biking trail, so be aware of your surroundings and respectful of other users.

The local material is a red clay, which is great when dry, but after rain, is incredibly sticky and slippery.

Compared to other singletrack in Duluth, this one has a narrower track, and rare but occasional rocks in the middle of the trail. This trail has a fantastic deep-woods feel to it.

In total, this trail five miles and the north end is roughly 300' higher (elevation) than the south end. Most of the elevation change occurs in the southern half of the trail, with the northern half flatter and rolling through the woods.

The southern end contains numerous hairpins turns, traversing along a steep hillside, to the head of a ridgeline.

From end to end, this trail is fairly easy, bringing the hiker from mature stands of White Pines, Hemlocks, and Cedars, and through big leafy Birch and Aspen groves. You'd never have a clue that you're within a city!
