Description

The East Fork Valley Trail can be hikeed as an out-and-back or as part of a longer loop. To access the trail, you can start at the western extent by taking a small trail from Dry Creek Road or the eastern end can be accessed from Hay-Knapp Creek (Eastern Segment). There is also an option to connect to the mid-point on the trail from Kelly Creek Road.

Once on trail, you'll start off by following the East Fork of Valley Creek. Depending on the time of year, there is a good chance that you'll be getting wet. Eventually the trail diverges from East Fork Valley Creek, and climbs over a ridgeline. You'll switchback through some dense forest, and then drop down to 432 and the Little Basin Creek drainage. From there, you're back to following the creekside, so enjoy the cooler temperatures and the sound of falling water.
The trail has mostly mellow, but there are a few small steps down, rocky sections and some tree roots. If you hike the trail end to end, expect a solid, steady climb followed by a similarly steady descent in either direction.
