Need to Know

If ascending from Lake Arnold, there is a wooded false summit and then a balding summit with incredible views in almost all directions. From there, the taller peak to the south is the summit of Colden. Many people confuse the balding summit with Colden itself.

Very muddy around Lake Arnold with minimal bridges.

Description

This trail descends/ascends the northeast side of Mount Colden. Many people use this as a descent in part of a loop over Colden. From the summit down, expect great views. After a short steep descent, you arrive at a bench along the ridge of Colden. Be sure to turn around if descending to see Colden. From here, the trail enters the forest and there are no other views. Follow the trail all the way down to Lake Arnold. The L. Morgan Porter Trail ends just past Lake Arnold on the Lake Arnold Trail.
