Description

Western States is a popular trail and a popular starting point for locals.

The western end of the trail is at the midway bridge, just south of Squaw Valley.

From Hwy 89, the trail is a roughly 1.5 mile fun singletrack climb. After 1.5 miles, the trail becomes a mix of old jeep road and singletrack. This is a great, moderate climb (though with a few steep sections) to OTB or to the 06 Road. As a climb, this is like a long staircase with steep sections follow by a short break or downhill. For those wanting a shorter loop, this trail also connects to The Wall (16N53).

The trail- particularly the last 1.5 mile downhill- is also a great descent.
This is a multi-use trail so be aware of your surroundings and of other users on the trail.
