Family Friendly This is an easy trail. The Lake Brandt Road crossing is busy and the Pisgah Church Road crossing is extremely busy. Otherwise, it does cross two family parks and one national park.

Open dawn to dusk.

Description

This is one of the Triad's first Rail Trails. This section spans a portion of the Atlantic and Yadkin Railroad (later part of the Yadkin Valley Railroad) that stretched from Rural Hall North of Winston to downtown Greensboro. This is the first phase of this rail trail that basically goes from the US-220 interchange down to the Target shopping center near the intersection of Battleground and Lawndale.

This trail intersects the Owl's Roost trail, Bicentennial Greenway: Greensboro Section and many of the Bur-Mil Park mountain bike trails.

It also is on the edge of the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, Country Park, and Bur-Mil Park.
