Castlemaine - Maldon Rail Trail

This trail follows the historic railway line between Castlemaine and Maldon. The Victorian Goldfields Railway operate a steam train along this track a couple of days a week.

In Castlemaine, the trail is signposted from Langslow Street. Langslow St is accessible from the Castlemaine rail station via tracks along Campbells Creek or streets through town. The trail is very well signposted from Langslow St to Maldon rail station.

The trail can be taken in either direction starting and finishing at the railway station of respective towns. This trail is mostly on well-formed dirt tracks.

The trail passes through dry open forest. Muckleford Station is located roughly at the halfway point. This station is located in the countryside with no facilities. Check the timetable of the steam train to see if the train stops here.
