Description
This loop literally has a mix of everything. Slickrock to sand, forest to grassy fields and possibly even a water crossing or two during a heavy rain. Seldom flat and never in a straight line, the trail winds its way around a large basin west of UT 313. The route drops down several rock shelves and across a couple different drainages before a meandering climb back up the other side - regardless of which direction you choose to hike it.
It’s hard not to stop and admire the amazing rock-work that went into the construction of this trail by the builders as you hike certain sections. The same can be said about the natural scenery in this area, the trail itself is technical enough to demand a continuous level of attention on your footing.
Because of the constantly changing trail and overall length, this trail by itself will be a challenge for some. But by beginning and ending on the
Chisholm Trail, this loop can be easily integrated with other trails in the area for a much longer hike for anyone wanting to do so.
