Description
The trailhead has a nice big parking lot with access to water and bathrooms. I took this trail in a counter-clockwise direction. The trail signs can be confusing as to which direction you should go; when hiking the loop in a counter-clockwise direction, you should almost always bear right.
The loop starts with a fairly long, semi-technical gradual climb. There is a "T" in the trail at the top of the hill; continue right. The trail then undulates and winds its way through the hills. There is a long, technical descent to another parking lot; this is one of the few times you should bear left.
The trail then crosses a service road and follows a flat cinder trail for about 1/3rd of a mile. The cinder trail then begins to climb, and once you reach the top of the small hill, start looking left for a trail marker. The trail is somewhat hard to see if you are not paying attention.
The trail then begins to climb again up a semi-technical, gradual climb around a scenic grassy area. There are two trails that branch off so make sure you stay right. There are many scenic mountain views. The trail then winds downward toward the parking lot.
