This lovely hike offers views of Lake Wanaka, the Glendhu bluffs, and the surrounding towering peaks. Within easy driving distance of downtown Wanaka, this is a great option for a morning or afternoon hike.

From the parking lot, head toward the lake on the Diamond Lake Loop Track, and cut right and skirt along the lake until the trail wraps around and heads uphill. Turn right a the first intersection onto the Lake Wanaka Lookout Track and about 1.25 miles in, you can take a short spur to the Lake Wanaka Lookout.

Check it out, then continue on uphill, crossing a small waterfall and eventually reaching the big views you have been waiting for. When you're done, continue on down some steep switchbacks and eventually meet back up with the original section of trail.
