Description

From the junction with the Old Tree Trail, climb through second-growth redwoods to a forested ridge. Pass the junction with the Summit Trail on your right, then continue around a ravine. At 2.6 miles, you reach the Slate Creek Trail Camp and a junction with the Bear Creek Trail, which goes to the Peters Creek Loop. Most visitors turn around here. Beyond the camp, the Slate Creek Trail descends to Slate Creek, crosses it, and then climbs the opposite side of the canyon to join the Ward Truck Trail.
