Another down-the-gulch trail to get to the beach, though this route is shorter and steeper than the Pinnacle Gulch Trail

Description

Since there isn't any street parking, hiking the Shorttail Gulch Trail means you'll have to navigate a long stretch of road through the neighborhood, especially if you're going out and back. Though parking is available on Mockingbird Drive, you'l need to make your way south along Mockingbird Drive before jogging to the east on Osprey Drive to reach the trailhead. The upside of this is that a good portion of the neighborhood has views of green hills with some rocks hiding under the grass.

Shorttail is quite a bit steeper than the Pinnacle Gulch Trail. It (as well as Pinnacles) has a running stream you can hear and see at times. There are a few shaded spots that will have mushrooms growing around if the conditions are right.

Once you've finally reached the beach, be sure you are aware of tide conditions, as high tides obscure most of the beach.
