Free wilderness permits and campfire permits are required to enter the Trinity Alps Wilderness.

Description

The trail starts on an old dirt road through a formerly logged forest. After a mile, turn west on a relatively level section, traversing the foot of Granite Peak.

Cross the Trinity Alps Wilderness boundary at 1.5 miles, where the trail heads north and begins to switchback. The trail opens up around 3.5 miles in, as the forest gives way to chaparral, meadows, and granite boulders.

Climb over a false summit, then pass the Stoney Ridge Connector Trail. The summit is 0.3 miles ahead.

From the top, enjoy views of the Trinity Alps, the Klamath Mountains, and Mount Shasta.
