Description
Big Beehive Trail starts at the Lake Agnes Teahouse on the east end of Lake Agnes. The trail is flat as it heads west on the rocky north shore of Lake Agnes. This is an open area with great views of the dramatic peaks that surround Lake Agnes. After about one third mile, the trail veers left to go around the west end of Lake Agnes following the shoreline.
About a half mile from its trailhead, Big Beehive Trail begins climbing a steep series of switchbacks to the ridge on the south side of Lake Agnes. This climb is on a steep, thinly wooded hillside. The views of Lake Agnes below become more and more dramatic as the trail climbs.
About 0.8 miles from the trailhead, Big Beehive Trail arrives at a trail junction on the ridge top. Continue straight (northeast) here to go to the Big Beehive Lookout at the end of Big Beehive Trail. The remaining 0.3 miles of the trail are over rock and low vegetation with awesome views in all directions. Lake Agnes,
Lake Louise, and surrounding peaks can be seen.
