Description

Park at the end of Lizzie St. above SLO High School, and the trail is on the right side of the street directly after the "no parking" signs. The steep grade begins immediately upon entering the trail and is relentless during the entire climb. There are a few switchbacks in the first quarter mile and a stream crossing, but after that the trail points straight up the mountain and takes a direct route to the top. The trail is mildly buffed out dirt interspersed with rocky sections. The trail terminates on the top of a ridge at a T intersection with a fire road.

Either return for a short, intense workout, continue left to the junction with the Bowden Ranch Trail, or stay right to the junction with Reservoir Canyon Trail.

It gets muddy when it rains due to sparse vegetation and heavy use so if you must hike after it rains, stay on the trail and keep singletrack single.
