Family Friendly A somewhat shaded, wide, dirt loop with lots of birding, this route is perfect for the whole family.

Overview

Given its accessibility, Debs Park is very much a hidden gem with some beautiful trails to explore. This loop hike serves as a great tour up and through the park.

Need to Know

The Center is open 9AM - 5PM, Wed - Sat, while the trails are open dusk to dawn, each day of the week.

Description

To access this loop, head to the Audubon Center parking area off Griffith Ave. From there, start heading north on the Hummingbird Trail and connect quickly with the Scrubjay Trail as it starts heading up and to the east. At a hairpin turn, stay to the right onto the Walnut Forest Trail. Keep your eyes on the tree canopies as this area is full of different bird species.

After a mile, this loop trail crosses the City View Trail. Stay straight on the Walnut Forest Trail for this featured hike but a nice spot for a break is down to the right on the City View Trail at a gazebo.

Continue on the Walnut Forest Trail as it bends to the north and turns back to the left (west). You'll end up at the same intersection where you turned right originally. Here, turn right onto the Scrubjay Trail as it heads back to the parking area from where you came.
