The Vista Trail begins at the intersection of the Wildcat Trail and Gold Creek Trail and climbs to a lookout at the top of Green Mountain. In reality, the viewpoint atop Green Mountain fails to rival those from the Wildcat Trail or Gold Creek Trail. But there are picnic tables, and some hikers will enjoy the satisfaction of reaching the top. There's also an outhouse at the midway point.

The trail starts off smooth and wide as it climbs gently through the trees. Just before it reaches the clearing with the outhouse, the trail steepens a bit. Higher up on the trail, a few rock faces offer some more challenging footing before the trail eventually opens onto a road veering right to a fenced viewpoint.
