This hike is nicely located next to the St. Johns River and a collection of small ponds. The area's amenities include a long fishing pier and covered picnic tables which are great for sightseeing or a post hike lunch.

Between the fishing pier, Main Trail, Marsh Trail, and a number of connectors, there are plenty of different ways to enjoy the park. All of the options are pleasant and easy, and the beautiful trails are a great adventure to take your family on.

Bring water and bug spray. After a heavy rain, there are areas of the trail that can be a little mucky, particularly near the marsh.

From the parking area, head past the fishing pier to follow the Main Trail into the pleasantly shaded trees. If you keep left at the second intersection the trail soon connects with the Marsh Trail (if you're looking for an optional up-close river detour). Beware that the Marsh Trail takes on some characteristics of its namesake, and can be on the muddy side.

Next, turn to the south and take a left at the next intersection. This short outer loop will soon cut back into the trees and swing hikers back toward the pier. Before you get there though, take the next left for a short and easy detour to the pond near the park's entrance. From there, simply head back to the parking area to enjoy the pier or a lunch.
