Description
This trail is quite the tour of lakes! First, you leave Seven Devils Trail #124 just south of Lily Pad Lake. You then gain a little elevation through an enjoyable hike along the northeast shore of Basin Lake on your way up to Shelf Lake. But wait, there is more! The trail then takes you south to a real gem of a lake. Yes, Gem Lake. (See what I did there?) Four lakes not enough? Continue trekking up and over the mountain to Sheep Lake. Be sure to look west down into Rock Island Lake and Appendix Lake before you go over the ridge into Sheep Lake. There are several really cool primitive campsites on the other side of Sheep Lake. Keep in mind that unless you are part mountain goat, this is a somewhat longer side trip that is out and back.
