Description
This trail is designed with snowmobilers in mind, so the biggest drawback is that it's not really maintained in the summer months, and it can become pretty overgrown with nettles and poison ivy, among other things. If you cover your legs, then it's one of the better stretches of trail in the area in that it's all singletrack, and that the both the up and downs of the hills are pretty badass for this area.
The trail itself is situated in an area of the park where most visitors don't go, so you're likely to have this trail entirely to yourself, save for the deer, turkeys, and other woodland creatures. It's a good segue between the
North Shore Trail and either the
Beach to Dam Trail or a spillway crossing to the McBride Nature Recreation Area (MNRA) trails.
Flora & Fauna
The Iowa fauna is pretty abundant in this short section of trail, likely due to the minimal presence of humans.
