Overview
Description
This route begins and ends at the Timberlakes trailhead, and visitors will return to the trailhead twice throughout this route. Each trail is a "lollipop" in shape, meaning that visitors will travel along a "stem" before completing a loop, and retracing their steps along the "stem." The trails are all well maintained and signed, and this makes for a pleasant outing.
The first loop is the
Badlands Trail. Head northwest of the parking area, to complete this loop. The path is well shaded by dense tree cover, and the rolling route is a lovely way to enjoy the woods in this area. Once you've made your meandering way around this loop, you'll find yourself back at the parking area and trailhead. From here, head to the
Oakleaf Trail.
The
Oakleaf Trail is similar in style to the
Badlands Trail, in that the rolling terrain is pleasant, and the path is easy to navigate. Along the way, visitors will have intermittent views of two ponds. Hikers will encounter two creek crossing, but bridges have been constructed, making the navigation a snap. Once you've headed out and around on this trail, continue eastward to the
Timberlakes Trail.
The
Timberlakes Trail is the final loop at the park. Like the first two loops, this trail is well maintained and allows hikers to take in the peaceful beauty of the Whitewater Forest. As you make your way around the loop, take in the shaded terrain and keep an eye out for local wildlife, such as white-tailed deer.
At the end of the
Timberlakes Trail, visitors will end up back at the trailhead for a third time, ending the hike back where it began.
