Kids will love eating berries and searching for wildlife along the trail.
Description
Journey along the Saddler Skyline Trail for a pleasant experience amidst established woodlands rife with diverse wildlife and species of edible berries.
Starting at the junction with the
Trestle Loop Trail, begin hiking the trail west as it follows an undulating course up and over a low ridge. Along the way, take a break from navigating switchbacks to enjoy a copious array of edibles, including thimbleberry, California blackberry, and huckleberry. While this trail has plenty of berries to offer, you won't be the only one competing for them: red foxes, gray squirrels, and a host of native bird species love to peruse this area in search of tasty snacks. Needless to say, make sure to bring your camera to capture these beautiful animals caught in the act.
On the opposite side of the ridge, the trail continues in typical form to its end in a junction with the
Trestle Loop Trail.
