Overview
To hike this trail is about 4.2 miles roundtrip from the parking lot. The trail is relatively flat at first and then heads straight up as you make the turn onto the Summit Trail about a mile in. The rest becomes bouldering to the top pretty quickly after that.
Need to Know
This is a challenging route. Not for dogs. Not for kids. Not for wimps!
Description
There are various paths as you move along. Look for painted arrows as well as rock cairns to keep you moving in the right direction. As you near the top, it flattens out a bit and then you actually hike to the summit. You don’t initially see it because it is to the east. But once you are there, you can enjoy a very nice view!
On the summit, there is a bench and old mailbox with a notepad to leave a message to others that you made it!
This is a difficult hike with almost 2,000 ft of elevation change and lots of scrambling and bouldering to get to the top. Climbing up, I actually separated a 200 pound boulder from the mountain, which went crashing 30 yards down the mountain and almost hit my hiking partner!
