Family Friendly An easy trail with great views and petroglyphs.

The dirt road leading to the trail advertises that 4x4 wheel drive is advised.

Description

This is a short trail off the beaten path; it is fun, family-friendly, and allows dogs. About 2-3 miles off the main highway, take the Christmas Tree lane dirt road to reach the trail. There is a small dirt parking lot with restroom facilities (no running water). There is a sign at the beginning of the trail warning about the trail and its lack of routine maintenance.

The trail itself is not maintained and is all sand and dirt. The trail itself is not marked, and you can take any path you want; as long as you stay next to the river bed, you won't get lost. There is natural desert vegetation all around and the desert mountains surrounds the trail; the views are amazing, especially during the golden hours. There are caves that are accessible for those who want to wander off the trail to climb the rocks, but the real gem of this trail are the petroglyphs that can be found on the rocks as you enter the canyon.

Overall, this is a great, albeit short trail that is fun to explore.

Flora & Fauna

Tons of natural desert vegetation. Beautiful cacti throughout.

Fun hike, took less than 10 minutes to see the glyphs. The caves were nice. Could've explored the area all day! — 2h 00m
