From the main parking lot, follow the paved path towards the river. Before reaching the river take the trail to the left (heading east). There is a post marked E5 and a trail map at the first trail junction. Take the trail branching off to the right (heading towards the river).

Continue on the right most trail at the next trail junction (there will be a post marked G3). After about 0.8 miles, the trail will head slightly inland and pass through a cottonwood grove.

Note that portions of this seasonal trail will be under water whenever the Yakima River approaches flood stage. Also, there is a low spot near the east end of the trail (a little over one mile from the start) that can have standing water even when the rest of the trail is passable.
