Description
From your starting point, youll have the formidable climb to the summit of North Traveler, at 3152. The steepest, most intimidating portions of the trail are located in the first 1.5 miles, so at least youre through the tough sections early on. The trail in this stretch of trail is steep, loose and rooty, so keeping an eye on your footing is a must.
After that, things flatten out, and youll have a half mile respite from your climb. On your way youll pass through some open meadows where great views of the Lower South Branch Pond can be had.
As the trail begins to near the summit of North Traveler, youll notice that youre passing through open territory. While pleasant when temperatures are cool, this portion of trail can be hot during the summer. Especially if continuing from North Traveler to Traveler, youll want to bring plenty of water with you, as there will be none until you reach the far side of the Traveler.
