Description

Climbing away from the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument Visitor Center or the Hornbek Homestead Parking Lot, this trail passes over a rise giving great views of the mountains to the west, and on clear days, south toward the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Dropping off the geologically significant rise, the trail meanders through montane environments, along a stream, and into aspen glades. The trail ends near granite boulders called the Twin Rocks. Meet up with someone on this end to be picked up or reverse the route for a nice 10k route back to the visitor center.
