Description

This trail goes up See Canyon and follows along Christopher Creek to the top of Mogollon Rim. Visitors will start at the See Canyon Trailhead. Follow the trail up to the intersection with the See Springs Trail, which will occur about 1/4 of the way into your trip, at about 3/4 miles distance from the trailhead.

You can detour to the spring, or continue on. Water was scarce during this fall trip so get it where you can.

The trail is forested with many dead trees along the way, I think due to a fire. Some parts are narrow but you won't get that hemmed in feeling. In spring, it was dusty, hot, and dry so the creek was down to a trickle. It was very hard to get water from the creek unless using a pump. We ended up getting water as it trickled over an overhang of rock. The trail goes straight up, and there aren't many switchbacks. The last part of the trail leading to the rim is very steep. We didn't see any wildlife, however, when we reached the top we ran into turkey hunters who were part of an organized contest hunt. They said turkeys were plentiful but elusive.

Both our GPS and DeLorme inReach worked along the entire trail.

We hiked a portion of the Highline Trail, form the See Canyon TH. An "in & out" hike that totals about 6.3 miles. There will be scenic views, big trees, big manzanita, and huge outcroppings of red rock.
