Description
Trail is a loop, officially listed as 7.2 miles by Georgia State Parks. This route is a moderate trail with some steep grades and a great view from Lookoff Mountain at the midway point. There are some basic campsites along the trail, if you're extending your visit overnight. The parking area is well-kept with clear trail markers at the beginning point.
The trail will split about a mile in - the west part of the loop is the easier portion of the trail overall, though the eastern portion offers its own beauty and the satisfaction of completing the more difficult route. As is typical with North Georgia trails, there will be muddy spots with any recent rain and many exposed roots, so make sure to have appropriate footwear. Also beware of washed-out spots along the west approach to Lookoff. There is quite a bit of descending and ascending, so be ready for a challenge. The views are well worth the effort.
