“This section of the Tapteal Trail connects Chamna Natural Preserve to WE Johnson.
”
From the southeast corner of the parking lot take the paved path towards the river. Head upstream on the trail to the right just before getting to the river. After about 700 feet the trail drops onto a paved bike path. Follow this under the bridge and uphill.
After traveling about a quarter mile on the bike path, take the trail branching off to the left. The next 2,000 feet of trail is deep sand that is very loose when dry. The trail passes behind the apartments and through the parking area for the Duportail boat launch (a Discover Pass is required to park here).
Past the parking area, the trail continues just to the right of the gate. The trail ends at the south entrance to WE Johnson Park. This end of the trail can be accessed from Tanglewood Drive.
