Description

Twin Bridges can be used to connect from Vasquez Road to Blue Sky and Ice Hill. It is a short, but scenic trail starting on a knoll that has been clear cut due to beetle kill. From the top of this hill you have great views of James Peak and Corona Pass and across the valley to the east side of the town of Winter Park.

A short but steep descent takes you back into the woods and down by the creek. In early spring, this portion of the trail can be at best soggy, and at worst, completely underwater due to spring run-off from Vasquez Creek. It is usually only a couple inches or water or mud so just be ready to get your feet dirty. After this section, you'll cross the first of the two bridges before a gentle climb to its junction with Blue Sky.

Continue on to your left and over the second bridge. Twin Bridges ends at a Little Vasquez Rd - if look to the left, and you'll see the singletrack start to Ice Hill.

Flora & Fauna

Lodgepole pines, blue spruce, and ferns by the creek. Fireweed in the clear cut meadow in the early summer. Squirrels, chipmunks, blue jays, and the occasional porcupine.

Difficult to determine mileage from map at trailhead. We'd been on Twin Bridges for an hour before discovering we were 1.6 miles back to Velasquez R — 2h 30m
