Description
Although the trailhead is fairly easy to find from Cruz Bay, if you're arriving by ferry to Cruz Bay it's easier to take the Upper
Lind Point Trail and pick up the
Caneel Hill Spur along the way.
Due to the vegetation along the entire trail, the only real views come at Caneel Hill (manmade platform) and Margaret Hill (large boulders) - but they're both great views to the west - southwest of Cruz Bay and St Thomas. The Margaret Hill viewpoint is easy to miss at the top of the hill - at the fork it's just about 10 feet to some boulders where you can get a nice view. Following the trail to Caneel Bay will drop you just west of the entrance to the Caneel Bay Resort where access to the resort is public and enables visitors to get to Honeymoon Beach and the
Lind Point Trail.
Watching the sun set from Caneel Hill is worth the hike up from
Lind Point Trail or the
Caneel Hill Spur, but be careful navigating this trail after noon as the sun can be unrelenting.
Flora & Fauna
Few animals, but many small lizards and birds. Bugs aren't usually too bad.
