Description

The gated Tanners Ridge Fire Road is mostly used by park staff and park vendor employees. Otherwise, all that can be found along this road is an active cemetery and access to the Appalachian Trail (AT) and the Tanners Ridge Horse Connector Trail. The road eventually leads to the park boundary in the town of Stanley, and is where the road becomes VA Rt 682 (Tanners Ridge Road).

Took this as access to Big Meadow while Skyline Drive was closed. A slow trudge uphill on a snowy gravel road but Big Meadow was fantastic in snow! 4.3mi — 2h 00m
