Description
From the trailhead, you'll follow in the shadow of ski lifts as you rise above Albion Basin. Looking across the basin, you'll have wonderful views of Devil's Castle and the rest of Alta Ski Resort.
After an initial climb, things level off for about 0.25 miles until another short climb brings you to an alpine meadow (a bog in the
Spring). This is the best spot to see moose and other wildlife and also top off your water in a mountain spring. There are several great campsites on the left side of the meadow.
One more 0.25-mile climb and you're at Catherine Pass, where you can enjoy sweeping views of Lakes Catherine, Martha, and Mary, as well as Mt. Wolverine and
Sunset Peak.
Flora & Fauna
You'll see abundant wildflowers in Albion basin in the
Spring, and groves of beautiful Aspens changing color in the Fall. Moose, mule deer, and ground squirrels abound.
