The Loma Verde Wash Trail starts off the Cholla Trail in the south and ends at the Shantz trail in the north, providing many connections to other trails in Saguaro.

Park at the Loma Verde Trailhead within Saguaro NP. This trailhead can be used to access a network of trails within Saguaro NP. Please remember this is the Loma Verde Wash Trail and not the Loma Verde Trail. These are two different trails.

Begin by taking the Loma Verde Trail north for approximately 1/2 a mile. Connect to the Cholla Trail and head west. Travel approximately 3/10 of a mile and you'll come to the Loma Verde Wash Trail. The Loma Verde Wash Trail is exactly as it sounds since the trail is in the bottom of a wash. Loma Verde Wash Trail continues north for approximately two miles before ending at the Shantz Trail. You can return the same way, or feel free to leave the Loma Verde Wash Trail by connecting to several east/west trails in the area and making a loop back to the trailhead.

Please remember that navigating a dry wash is a lot like hiking on the beach. While not difficult, and with very little elevation change, it takes a little more effort than traveling on a firmly packed trail.

You'll see many desert natives, such as cholla and saguaro, and may even catch glimpses of lizards, snakes, or hares.
