Description

This is a fairly easy trail that is 5 miles in length (my Garmin was a little less). There are a few hills greater than 15% grade, but they are short. A great trail to hike on when the MTB trails are shut down due to rain. Just watch all of the roots.

There are many spots to take a dip or let your dog swim. It's a great local trail to get away from it all without having to drive far. There should be plenty of parking, except on the weekends. You may have to park up the road a bit or park in the swimming area parking where there are more than enough parking spaces.

Flora & Fauna

Mostly hardwood trees, with some pines in areas. Lots of deer.

Really great views of Lake Norman at regular intervals along the trail, but beware of the tree roots which will keep you on your toes or you'll trip 5mi

Just be mindful of roots, great hike overall. I even ran here and there for endurance. 4.8mi
