Easy elevation gain initially. Pretty canyon hike/walk. Not too challenging surface.
Description
This is a very nice out-and-back trail. The trail is wide initially and smooth nearly throughout. There is elevation gain, but overall the way the trail runs there are plateaus after nearly every climb to catch your breath.
Upon leaving the trailhead parking lot, you'll cross a well-built foot bridge and make an immediate right. You'll continue approximately 2.0-2.5 miles along a small creek up the valley to another right turn. It is at this right turn that the trail leaves the canyon floor and ascends steeply toward a "saddle".
You'll have beautiful views of the Pole Canyon behind as well as some views of Wheeler Peak ahead as you summit the saddle. You continue to follow the well-marked trail until you reach the intersection with
Timber Creek trail.
Flora & Fauna
I came across a bunch of wild turkey and tracks indicated that there are small predatory cats tracking the turkey.
