A hike mostly through pine forest with plenty of shade from the sun and plenty of tree for the birds.

Description

Start at end of the trail; Lair O' the Bear from the North Access or start from the Pence Park parking lot from the south side. Either start begins with ascent, as the highest point of the Bear Creek Trail is about half way between. As this is not a loop trail, expect 12 miles total. The trail is almost exclusively singletrack with very few rocks. There are a few short rocky sections near the apex, but these shouldn't slow you down.

There is a short out-and-back detour about 3 miles in that takes you up to a vantage point with a birdseye view of Evergreen and Mt. Evans in the distance; I highly recommend this detour as it's the only view of the mountains you'll get.
