Description
Branching off from the
Long Logs Access Trail (Paved), this short, paved trail leads to one of the most interesting relics found in the park. Access to the Agate House is easy for all members of the family, and the ancient home is well worth the visit.
Built during the 14th century, Agate House was constructed by the Ancestral Puebloan people as a small, eight-room family home. Interestingly, no doors were used to access the inside of the dwelling. Rather, family members were tasked with scaling a ladder to the rooftop, from which they could enter the dwelling through a small opening.
Please leave all artifacts where they lie, so that the next visitors can enjoy the same rich experience while visiting the Agate House archaeological site.
