About a dozen bridge crossings on this trail add to the fun. There are 6 climbs of about 100 feet of gain over the 6.35 miles.

The trail starts with a rolling downhill, which acts as a great warm up. The trail will then continue to be rolling, but you'll notice that you'll be working your way up more than down. The trail will move in and out of the forest, at some points opening up to a wide meadow, and at others heading back into the trees.

There is a nice view overlooking the creek before climbing Halloween Hill (no idea who named it or why). The top is where you cross the only railed bridge. Near the bottom, after crossing a bridge, GO STRAIGHT, over the edge, then turn right at the T. Just past 2.2 miles is a 4-way intersection, and you'll want to go straight up the short hill. A wooden arrow sign is slightly hidden up the hill away from vandals' view.

The most scenic place is a small waterfall near 2.3 miles. It's not visible from the trail, but you'll hear it. It's just a few feet off the trail and a great place to prepare for the next climb to the halfway mark.

Once you reach "Powerline" turn downhill and begin the speedy descent back to where you started!

The sound of gunshots may startle you, but know that It's the SJPD range close by.

As a final note, be sure to bring your power legs. You'll need them!
