Description

From the parking lot, head south across a dry stream bed and locate the trail on the left-hand side. You'll start on a descent and cross a small stream before starting a mostly uphill climb. The trail is steep in several sections with many switchback and tight corners.

Take in the views of Crow Peak when the trail turns toward the mountain. Cross through rocky sections and a few small meadows that have abundant flowers in the spring and early summer. The trail then follows a ridgeline with commanding views of the Black Hills to the south. Continue up until reaching a junction with three forest service roads. Either continue on or reverse your route back to the trailhead.

Flora & Fauna

Pine, birch, aspen, turkey, and deer.
