From the trailhead at Telegrafo, the trail descends to Lemmen, a small group of rustic cottages, and then continues through terraced vineyards to the Sanctuary of Montenero, with sea views most of the way. From the Sanctuary of Montenero, there is a 180-degree view of the coastline. The trail continues its descent to Riomaggiore, first on singletrack, then on a stone-paved mule path.
