Family Friendly This is a short, easy trail. While the trail is not paved, it is well-maintained, frequently used, and has many resting points with shade and benches.

Description

The park entrance fee is $8.00 per vehicle. Parking is free in large, paved lots. There are several facilities near the trailhead including a bait shop, convenience store, and restrooms.

The entirety of the trail wanders through thick vegetation across the island, though the trail is generally clear of any overgrowth or debris. The majority of the trail remains in sight of the nearby canals. There are several cleared areas with benches to stop and watch for marine life.

There are three "shortcuts" along the trail that shorten the overall length by several miles. Near shortcut 2 is a lake where you are likely to spot alligators! While there is a beach very nearby. Swimming in the canals and lake is prohibited and can be dangerous.

Flora & Fauna

This park is filled with wildlife. You may see tortoises, snakes, alligators, manatees, and even sharks!
