Description
This trail was formally know as the Scout Trail. It was renamed after the family who donated the land it travels across now (Bill and Marion Certain). There is now a physical disconnect between this trail and the
Scout Trail after the construction of Cecil Ashburn drive through the valley between Huntsville and Green Mountain.
The best way to get to the Certain Trail is using the Land Trust parking lot off of Cecil Ashburn drive. The
Smoke Rise Trail starts at the same location but heads down the mountain. About and 1/8 of mile in it also connects with the
Sugar Tree Trail that also heads down the mountain.
1/2 a mile in you reach the top the mountain and from here to the end it is flat and fast. This is an offshoot of the trail that runs parallel along the West side of the Green Mountain and eventual meets back up with Certain Trail after the power line cut.
And of course, the power line cut is where you have some great views of Huntsville to the west and Hampton cove to the east.
