Overview

This route utilizes access roads with in Joe Wheeler Wildlife refuge. It features an excellent view of the the Tennessee River and runs near Rock house cave.

Beware of hunting activity.

Description

There is a fairly large gravel area off of Jolley B Road that can be utilized for parking. The route is fairly easy to navigate but can be tricky around mile 7 so be sure to have map handy because it is not marked. You can also use the Hiking Project mobile app, just make sure you download the Alabama data before leaving home.

Just off or Refuge Road if you choose you can explore Rock House Cave. If you're hiking this route in the winter then you should steer clear so you don't wake any hibernating bats. Huntsville Outdoors has a good article about the the cave here: huntsvilleoutdoors.com/inde…
