Description
This forest service road is popular with off-road vehicle enthusiasts in the summer. It's closed to vehicular traffic in the winter. There is plenty of opportunity for you to have this road all to yourself.
This FS road is very long and ultimately leads to the top of
Storm Mountain. From the top of Storm, you get spectacular views, plus along the way, you get a hike through some beautiful mountain scenery and forest (not to mention the gut-busting climbs!).
You can follow FS road 153 to the east all the way to the forest service land boundary which is very near Masonville. The road actually does connect to Colorado road 27 in Masonville. Unfortunately, prior to that intersection the road crosses about a half mile of private property and is not accessible.
Be advised there are many other FS roads, spurs and loops accessible from here. What I have mapped here is only the beginning!
