This trail is accessed from the Vine Maple Trail via Big Fir Trail a short distance west of the visitor center. It is packed dirt but stays fairly dry. Overall the trial is very windy which helps it feel more isolated as you pass through the mossy forest (which isn't really that Ponderosa-y). There is a swampy area near the southern edge of the trail and an intersection with the Big Fir Trail and Owl Path on the western edge.
