Description

The South Leaf Trail is cut into a steep hillside, roughly paralleling Star Hill Road. The surface is rough and strangely cambered with short, rooty, rocky climbs and drops. South Leaf Trail traverses high above El Corte de Madera Creek through pretty conventional looking forest. The narrow trail has a lot of up and down, making for a somewhat challenging finish to your outing.

The South Leaf Trail can be picked up from the CM08 gate, CM09 gate or either of the two short spurs between these two gates- just off Star Hill Road. Note: bikes are allowed on this trail.

Flora & Fauna

Tanoak woods with a dense under-story of huckleberry shrubs. Some redwoods.
